Discussion:
[opencms-dev] 9.0.1 demo site online somewhere?

Just a question: is the demo site that comes with 9.0.1 (html5 animated
stuff from recent OpenCms days)
available online somewhere?

Since I'm sticking with 8.0.4 at the moment, I only have the flowers
site online. Will probably try to use the upgrade wizard to 9.0.1
soon and see whether it migrates my templates smoother than it happened
with the failed import of the 7.5.0 site).

But I would like to show openCms to my daughter who is also designing
web sites as a grafical designer.

How is the animated stuff produced in the 9.0.1 demo site?

Hi Chris,
AFAIK there is no online demo with 9.0.1.
9.0.1 demo template is based on the Twitter Bootstrap framework. Alkacon used a bootstrap template. But I don't know which one.
Isn't it possible for you to install a 9.0.1? Maybe on a local computer and if necessary showing it to your daughter via Teamviewer or another remote tool?

Hi Kai,

I managed to run the upgrade wizard over my 8.0.4 site and all seemd to
run smooth.

Now how can I tell that I'm really running 9.0.1? In
/sites/default/index.html there is still 8.0.4 content.
Where is the 9.0.1 demo site?

BTW, my 7.5.0 site (which gave me so much trouble yesterday when trying
to import it directly into 9.0.1) is looking fine.
No more faint grey uneditable index.html.

Is upgrading a site to a version (9.0.1) not the same as installing that
version?

Hi Christoph,

here you have it (was setup in less than 2 minutes, thanks to
opencms-stack-aio docker image :-)):

http://opencms-demo.cloudssky.net/

I don't promise to keep it running the whole time, if you need a user
account for the workplace, let me know.

You can find the opencms-stack-aio docker image and more on docker hub:

https://hub.docker.com/u/cloudssky/

HTH,

Kind Regards,
Arash

Hi Chris,
the OpenCms upgrade wizard does not touch your content. So your content in 8.0.4 stays the same, as it was in 9.0.1.
I did not use the upgrade wizard for quite some time so I do not remember if it offers you to install the demo templates of 9.0.1.
But I guess it doesn't. But you can install the modules afterwards. The 9.0.1 demo modules should be in the packages/modules folder of your upgraded instance:
com.alkacon.bootstrap.basics-9.0.1.zip
com.alkacon.bootstrap.contents-9.0.1.zip
com.alkacon.bootstrap.dev.demo-9.0.1.zip
com.alkacon.bootstrap.formatters-9.0.1.zip
com.alkacon.bootstrap.schemas-9.0.1.zip
com.alkacon.bootstrap.search-9.0.1.zip
If they are not there, you should be able to extract them from the opencms.war file with a zip unpacker like 7-zip.

HTH
Kai
